Project Description

Campos Air is a personal cooling solution designed to provide comfort on the go. The concept combines industrial design with a clean digital interface, offering users seamless control over airflow, modes, and battery status. The goal was to create a product that feels both minimal and smart, with a companion app that makes everyday use effortless.

Project / Details

The project explored the need for a portable and ergonomic cooling device. Traditional fans were either handheld or stationary, limiting user freedom. The Neck Fan was designed to be lightweight, rechargeable, and hands-free, making it ideal for students, commuters, and outdoor workers.

Ways of working

I developed comprehensive wireframes for the mobile fan control interface, incorporating feedback from classmates and course instructors throughout the iterative design process. The methodology included creating low-fidelity wireframes, conducting peer review sessions in class, and refining the interface based on instructor guidance to ensure the final product met both user needs and technical requirements for portable fan control.

Project Research

Research & Planning

Conducted comprehensive research on portable fans, covering their history, design characteristics, and technical components. Presented findings to the class, which led to valuable brainstorming sessions and peer feedback that shaped the mobile interface design direction. The collaborative discussions identified key user needs for portable cooling devices, including intuitive controls, multiple speed settings, and smart automation features.

Solution

Minimal Interface, Maximum Comfort

The final solution offers:

  • A welcoming onboarding screen for instant connection

  • Immediate feedback once the device pairs successfully

  • A clean control panel with:

    • Intensity slider

    • Preset modes (Breeze, Afternoon breeze, Powerful Airflow and Smart-Mode)

    • Clear battery status

    • Quick power-off button

This ensures that users can focus on comfort rather than figuring out the interface.

Results

CamposAir successfully merges industrial design with a comprehensive minimal digital experience. The project delivered both a companion app prototype and an informative landing page that demonstrate how seamless interaction can elevate a physical product. The app prototype showcases intuitive smart controls, while the minimal landing page effectively communicates the product's value through clean, informative design. Together, these digital touchpoints make the fan feel more personal, usable, and smart, creating a complete ecosystem around the portable cooling device.
